Notary Requirements Course Schedules INFORMATION ON BECOMING A NOTARY Any resident citizen or alien of the state, 18 years of age or older, can be appointed a notary public in and for the parish in which they reside provided that they meet the requirements established by Louisiana Law. Notary applicants must be qualified by the Secretary of State's Office and, unless licensed to practice law in Louisiana, must complete the Notary Exam Pre-Assessment as well as take and pass the state notary exam. The pre-assessment is online and must be completed before an applicant can register for the state notary exam. The pre-assessment is mandatory but only needs to be taken once. The state notary exam is given at least twice a year. The next Louisiana Notary Public Examination will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021. If you are applying to be a licensed home inspector, you will be required to go through 90 hours of classroom education, and 30 hours of in-field training. There are two major types of insurance licenses: The Life, Health & Accident Producer License and the Property and Casualty Producer License. The Life, Health & Accident Producer License authorizes you to sell life, health, disability and long term care insurance, annuities, and related coverage.
