Become a Loan Officer

Before one can engage in residential mortgage lending activity in Louisiana as a loan officer, one must first obtain a residential mortgage lending license and follow the mortgage license application procedures.  The basic licensing process is fairly simple: you must first complete your pre-license education, pass the national and state components of the license exam, and comply with all license application procedures with the NMLS and OFI (if in Louisiana).

This 20-Hour Mortgage Loan Originator SAFE Comprehensive Course uses the Mortgage Lending Principles and Practices, 8th edition textbook, which was designed to meet the core criteria established by the SAFE Act for national mortgage loan originators, including three hours on federal lending legislation-including recent changes to the Truth in Lending Act and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act as a result of the Mortgage Disclosure Improvement Act.
